On Friday March 15, 2024, the annual Hayward Unified School District Art is Education reception was hosted at Hayward City Hall. The event featured artwork and performances created by Hayward students from grades K-12. This yearly event celebrates the importance and impact of art in the learning process.
The Mt. Eden Theater Program performed Bad Auditions by Bad Actors, a satire piece about students auditioning as Romeo and Juliet for a school play in the midwest.
Mt. Eden’s Orchestra performed A Ballad of Inis Mor by Doug Spata, and Allegro Presto from Symphony No.2 by Chevalier De Saint-Georges.
Awards were presented to students whose work was featured in the art gallery. Among them were Gabby Venturaza (Frustration), Wendy Cerron (Curiosity), Kimberly Vasquez (Ghostly White), Isabell Aguilera (Detangled), and Brandon Martinez-Lopez (Forgotten). Artworks showcased at this event have the opportunity of being sold. The gallery will remain open at City Hall until May 2, 2024.
