Inspiration grows, as Senior basketball player Johnson Tran brings a better mindset to his team. For Tran, basketball started as a hobby, but watching his older brother play led him to an enduring and rewarding high school career.
“My brother played in college, and that’s where I want to go. I want to play in college,” said Tran.
Johnson started playing basketball in 4th grade, and it quickly became one of his biggest passions. Over time, the pressure intensified, making things more challenging, but Tran kept pushing forward, motivated by the influences that surrounded and encouraged him.
Tran focuses on consistency and discipline; one of his drills is pushing himself by hitting at least 200 shots daily, whether it’s 3-pointers or mid-range at home.
“For the team, I think everybody’s focused on winning the league; we’re trying to get 10-0 and go further in the playoffs,” said Tran. “I want them to give everything when they’re playing, like start to finish when walking off the court, and giving their all.”
With his leadership skills and help from his teammates, Tran can push everybody to hit new achievements, surpass their goals, and surpass their goals as one of the seniors on the team.
Tran said that one of his most memorable moments during his freshman year was hitting two game-winners. He believes that his commitment to improvement is reflected in his performance, as his teammates could also create game-changing performances by committing to be disciplined.
His story is one of many, but Johnson Tran’s efforts and dedication deserve credibility and notice from other people, as it may inspire others to try out basketball. Knowing his skills inspire others instills happiness in Tran. He says, “If they don’t like it at first, I’d say, ‘keep trying,’ because they might love the training, or the coaches, or the people they play with, so just give it a try.”
