Coming in May 2025, Mt. Eden is presenting The Lion King, the school’s first all-school musical.
All of the different visual and performing arts teachers and their classes will be involved, either setting the stage, making costumes, performing live music, and more. Moreover, any Mt. Eden students are given the opportunity to audition to be a part of the show, whether they want to be a main character, stage crew or even a background antelope, there are spots for everybody interested.
The Lion King is a production that has been done at Mt. Eden twice before in 2008 and again in 2014, and even then it wasn’t an all-school performance.
“I’m super excited it’s finally coming back after a decade. It’s going to be absolutely incredible and a show worthy of that Performing Arts Center,” shared Carrie King, Mt. Eden’s Art 1, Advanced Art, and AP Drawing teacher.
This production will run for 6 shows in May, some will be matinee, so students from neighboring middle schools can come to watch. There will also be regular premieres at night. Additionally, the crew hopes to perform Circle of Life, the intro song of the show, at a children’s hospital.
Auditions will come up in January, and although showtimes are yet to be scheduled, there is no doubt that this performance will be one students will never forget.
