Cheerleaders on Campus

Mt. Eden has a strong group of cheerleaders with spirit and strength, rooting for everyone on campus. The role cheerleaders play is important as they motivate the fans and the players.  They create shows for half-time in order to get fans excited about the atmosphere.

The preparation and vigor cheerleaders must dedicate makes them very disciplined and salient. Not only do they practice everyday after school they attend football and basketball games both home and away.

“Many times we don’t have much time to do other things,” said Mt. Eden senior Dayanara Perez. “We have to train and the practices are a little late.”

Being part of the cheerleading team takes up much of the cheerleaders’ time. When it comes to cheering the players on campus, their discipline is visible as their routines are intricate and exciting. In addition to the fact that they enjoy being part of the team, all these athletes take making the players and fans feel comfortable as an important job.

Many times it’s simply difficult to separate private life with training and school, but still the cheerleaders enjoy their role on campus. Thanks to the training and presentations, all of the team members are hard workers, producing magnificent results with their various techniques and talents.

Part of being a cheerleader also guarantees they meet and interact with more people, socializing and having a good time no matter their environment. Although many times they get a little pressure from the coaches, they continue to give their best effort.

“It’s difficult to balance studying with training since most of the time we spend training, also the training hours start a little late since we do not have that much time,” said Mt. Eden senior Ada Mancia.

Most of the time being part of the cheerleading group can be a little busy but the laughter, fun, and memorable memories will not be lacking.

“You must be yourself and support others, never give up,” said both Mancia and Perez.
