Layla Black and Sofia Cordoba
English teacher Tracy Phillips began teaching at Mt. Eden in 2007 and worked hard to reenergize the theater arts program at Mt. Eden in 2013. Mt. Eden is known for its visual and performing arts programs, which is shown by the theater class. Advanced Theaterset up a gallery showcasing one of the many ways they incorporate these forms. The project is from the unit called Location-Location, focusing on staging, using space, and set design—all crucial parts to theater. Though this unit is revisited for Advanced Theater students “… each time they’ve told me, they are still learning something,” Phillips emphasized. As the unit progresses, students will design and build their own models from a list of locations and time periods. Below are some of the designs 2nd period Advanced Theater students worked to plan and create.
